Who We Are?

The Goshen Soccer Academy (GSA) is the culmination of a life devoted to soccer and community.Thavisak “Tavi” Mounsithiraj and Kyle Stiffney are our managing partners. We are excited that Tavi and Kyle’s dreams of having a soccer-centric space where they could teach skills, host competitions, and be a welcoming place for all. ONE LOVE is our motto. We can’t just leave it at that though, as the story of our founding is a great lesson in hard work, a little luck, God’s perfect timing, and the American Dream.

The Goshen Soccer Academy (GSA) is the culmination of a life devoted to soccer and community.

Thavisak “Tavi” Mounsithiraj has devoted a lifetime to soccer here in the Goshen community. GSA is a welcoming and positive environment for kids to play soccer, learn life lessons, and have fun! ONE LOVE is our motto, and we live out this motto in everything we do here at GSA whether its youth leagues, camps, and clinics or adult leagues, racquetball, and pickleball.

Our Founding Story:

Tavi has spent his life helping to grow the sport of soccer in and around Goshen, Indiana. In Goshen, when the topic of soccer is brought up, Tavi’s name will inevitably be in the conversation. Everyone in local soccer knows him and his level of passion for the sport. Kyle also grew up in Goshen and came to know Tavi from a very early age. He has played for Tavi from age 8 all the way through his college years at Goshen College. After college, Kyle and his wife, Alli, moved to Nicaragua to live and serve in a small community.

Living in Nicaragua solidified their love for Latin American culture, serving others in need, and for soccer. As a result, Kyle decided he wanted to continue to do what he loved most and dreamt of one day owning a soccer-centric sports facility.In January 2018, the owners of the facility where Goshen Soccer Academy now resides, had decided to sell the facility. Originally designed and built in 1973 for indoor tennis, the building at 1400 Fairfield Avenue was a perfect location for futsal and soccer. Tavi learned about the opportunity to buy it and put his plan together.

To this point, Tavi and Kyle had not talked about their common dream.

In Spring 2018, Jason Bontrager’s son, Andrew, had joined the Middlebury Magic and Tavi was his skills coach. Jason and Tavi got reacquainted as they first met at Camp Amigo where Tavi had been Jason’s counselor many years before. Jason recalled what a major influence Tavi had played in the lives of all the campers that summer. It is a trait he still exudes today with his soccer players.Tavi soon learned Jason’s business invests in private enterprise. After a month or two, Tavipitched Jason on his idea of a local futsal/soccer club. Jason loved the idea, but wanted to get a 2nd opinion. He called Kyle who was getting ready to move his family back to Goshen and was looking for his next gig. The timing was perfect. Jason and Kyle were in and proceeded to chat with 2 other potential “soccer-centric” investors, cousins Mitch Hawkins and Austin Bontrager. Like Kyle, Mitch and Austin had grown up playing soccer in academy, summer leagues, and in high school.

Our team is Thavisak “Tavi” Mounsithiraj and Kyle Stiffney as our managing partners, and Austin Bontrager, Mitch Hawkins, and Jason Bontrager as partners. Together we bought the building and worked hard all of summer and fall in 2019 to create a world-class futsal and indoor, multi-sport facility.

Our goal is to be a welcoming and positive place where our community can remain active, playing medium court-size sports and racquetball, when it’s not possible to do so outside because of weather.
